Okay, so maybe Connor Hawke isn't a household name like Clark Kent or Peter Parker or whatever, maybe he doesn't even get on the superhero D-List, but after that very spoilery thing that happened to him, I just gotta say...

So today was kind of weird.

Oh yeah, to everybody in the US, Happy Let's-Eat-Turkey-And-Forget-We-Screwed-Over-The-Natives Day.

Anyhow. I had Figure Drawing class today and I don't know how to feel about it. Actually I do.

Bad: Our teacher was out because WHO GOES TO SCHOOL THE DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING, WHAT ARE YOU, STUPID OR SOMETHING? So we had an inept sub who was like "Well I'm a sculptor by trade," and we all know that when somebody shrugs and goes "Well it's just that I consider myself X" and X has nothing to do with the class, they're pretty much saying "I am incapable of doing even the basic shit for this subject." (This keeps happening in every class I'm in. People! End of the semester! Get with the program already!)

Yeah, like, sub guy did a demo by drawing a golf ball (in... FIGURE drawing?) from his head and talked a lot but didn't say shit, you KNOW what I mean. So uh.

Also we had The Boring Model. I keep having this stupid model! I think he just works the rounds with the illo and foundations departments too, which means the fashion students who can't draw and might actually dig his boringness NEVER HAVE TO DEAL WITH HIM. He's got a cool face but dear god, he does like the exact same five poses OVER AND OVER. He's practically getting paid to sleep. Ugh.

Good: I realized since we weren't actually learning anything this class, I decided I didn't have to use stupid freaking charcoal, and busted out the brush pen and brush marker and TORE THAT SHIT UP.

And I got an *ace* burrito for lunch.

I think you guys are probably more interested in the arts though huh.

Stuff that has been going on:

I have a horrible roomie who is dirty and drunk and wakes me up at 3am and lost her key to the room so I have been moving my stuff out and sleeping in my (angelic, kind, generous, beautiful) friends' rooms so my valuables don't get stolen and I don't get molested or puked on in the night by gross roomie's gross loud alcoholic creep friends, and also so I don't develop insomnia from being woken up repeatedly by trashy girls in tutus kicking my door down.

Trying to get her kicked out of campus housing, because apparently everyone hates her and not just me (partly because she puked in the hall and kind of hung around the puke looking lost and pukey but didn't clean it up, yeah EW) but HMMM, AFTER THE RM DUMPED ROOMIE ON ME, SHE (RM) HAS BEEN MIA.

Whine whine complain complain.

Also I saw 30 Days of Night last night! The teenage brother was adorable. And the looooong shots over the streets of the town where really awesome! It took itself waaaay too seriously in some parts, though. Like, "people were giggling in the theater" status.

Last thing! I have a friend who's making a small zine. This month's theme is "Mermaids Can't Wear Panties," and the deadline is Halloween. If you maybe, say, want to make a short black-and-white comic doodlething for it and make some art students delighted, then you should probably send those to jsalume at gmail dot com. Just putting that out there.

That is a drawing of the weredalmation character I made up for my figure modeling class.

I have to take english for my liberal arts credit this semester and it was sooooo boring today. The teacher made us compare and contrast two mediocre cookies and we had to get into groups and talk about musicians or celebrities or something. My group fapped over Pink Floyd (sp?) and complained about Myspace bands and acted like they were the first people ever to diss Myspace and thus were VERY CLEVER AND EDUCATED.

I was smart and brought the zines I bought at zinefest, though, so I didn't go braindead from the lame at least. People kept giving me looks like "How can you read in class you wretched child!" and "Oh god that looks so interesting but I can't bring myself to ask her where she got it so I will settle for an awkward second of eye contact."

You guys should check out Papercutter it was really awesome!

Classes start tomorrow. Apparently I have a hardcore sculpture class, with metal tubes and everything! On my first day! And I'm getting my supplies on the first day too because Utrecht is a cruel, cruel lover! And everything has to happen at, oh that's right, 8:30 in the morning.

I think I need to start panicking right now!

I had another dream with freaking Sharkey Jason Todd! He's like invading my dreams! (at least all the weird ones!) (...Which is all of them!)

It was like X-Men with mutants but nobody had cool powers like lazer beams, it was like stretching-and/or-looking-like-Beak status mutations. And people were all hunting the mutant kiddies down because one dude (early mutant) turned FREAKY with NEEDLE TEETH and lived in the hills for years and ate a hiker. So Jason had no powers but he was helping his ugly mutant friends. And this crazy woman from the government was chasing us with a shotgun and everyone jumped in the water because water stops bullets! And then I woke up.

I think this is one of the few dreams of mine I can directly trace the causes of:

1. My dad was watching Snakes on a Plane on TV, and also
2. some sci-fi thing with people with boils and extra heads in space getting threesome-married, and also
3. I have been reading way too much Young Justice.

This whole post is me stalling writing a piddly 500 word thingy about multicultural environments for the dorm I'm in. It's the newbie dorm I guess because none of the other dorms have to write this dumb thing. (It's actually just generic student fodder they'll put in a leaflet or something like when my boarding school asked me to define art, and I shouldn't make a big deal. SIGH.)
